In 1985 Northwestern Illinois Center for Independent Living opened its doors with the mission to support people with disabilities to live in the community of their choice. Since then, we have moved a couple of times, met several friends, served thousands of people, and made a difference in our five-(5)county service area.

We do that with dedicated volunteers, a Board of Directors, and team members. We think our role in the lives of our stakeholders is pretty important, and we are proud to serve.

Our organization is transparent and open. We are managed by the NICIL Board of Directors, who meets monthly to lead NICIL into our future. Our day-to-day operations are overseen by our Executive Director. Every team member contributes to our success every day! We might be a small organization, but we are mighty!
